Question: Hey Candice, happy saturday! I'm curious...can your kids be picky eaters? Rayna is driving me nuts with her picky eating! I have tried to be nice mama and induldged her with foods we don't normally eat and now it seems all she wants is sweet foods and no veggies and seems to complain and not like anything............any tips? blessings to you all : )
Answer: I'd say it is a phase, that kids can go through at her age. Even if she had previously been person who likes variety. Sometimes the young palate can be too overwhelmed with new tastes, and seeks the comfort of one flavor. The sweet taste is associated with the emotion of happiness and contentment. If there has been some sort of stress or disappointment, she may crave sweets. Also the sweet taste is associated with the Spleen. The spleen needs the sweet flavor to function. Has she had tummy aches or loose stools or a high fever lately (sweet is cooling), her body may be trying to get nourishment to recover. Of course candy can't help you recover--but a teaspoon of good raw honey BEFORE a meal may be just what her body needs to boost the spleen. I always trust in my kids bodies to let me know what they need. Candy I don't do :) but i do use the flavors to help supplement their nutritional needs.
